TM4C123 UART Rise Time

Hi,

We are currently designing a custom board using TM4C123BE6, we follow a good practice rule for series termination resistors

For example, if the signal rise-time is 10ns, and the PCB trace length is > 2 inches, we add a 22 ohm series termination resistor near source.

Should I consider the GPIO timing from the datasheet for UART too?

please advise.

Thanks.

  • Hello Moha,

The UART IO is a GPIO as well. So the timing specified for the GPIO will be applicable to the protocol as well. Do note of the latch up issue on the TM4C123x devices. You may need to consider a de-cap close to the IO to make sure that the rise/fall time of the signal does not go less than 2ns.

    Regards
