Measuring frequency and duty cycle of input PWM Signal

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hello,

One of the devices (Bender ISOMETER) I am working with outputs a PWM wave to signal it's state. I would like to collect this data for processing but am not sure what module to use with the RM46 line of controllers to do this. My device outputs 10Hz, 20Hz, 30Hz, 40Hz, and 50Hz with 5% to 95% duty cycle. I am not sure if using the eCAP or eQEP would be better suited to this. A recommendation would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nathan

  • Hello Nathan,

The N2HET module would probably be best suited to what you are trying to do. N2HET is a programmable timer and input capture module. There are drivers generated by Halcogen for the N2HET to measure PWN Duty cycle and period which should allow you to determine the type of input based on the information in your post. below are several other threads that discuss similar or related tasks:

Hopefully these can help. If not there are several other posts on the N2HET that you can search for using the search utility that might also be helpful.
