Setting the Direction of pin in N2HET1 bungles the etPWM output

If I set the direction of any pin pin N2HET1_16 in the N2HET1 module in my RM46L852 controller, then the etPWM module waveform is lost and instead I get a 3 KHz 50% duty cycle wave.

I have selected the etPWM pins in the IOMM configuration in HALCoGen, but it still does the same thing.

After a bit of debugging, I think I know what the problem was.

N2HET1_16 and the ETPWM1SYNCI are routed to the same pin. Even though I am synchronizing the etPWMs a but etPWM1 is configured to output a SYNCO on 'Counter is zero', I think it is accepting the signal on N2HET1_16 and forcing the PWMs to sync.

Rerouting my signal from N2HET_16 to another N2HET1 pin solves the problem.

Is this behavior intended?

The N2HET1[16] function is multiplexed with ePWM1_SYNCI as well as ePWM1_SYNCO. Which of these functions is enabled on the "pinmux" tab in HALCoGen? The output on ePWM1_SYNCO is only useful if there is an external circuit that needs to be synchronized to the ePWM1 time-base.
