Hello.

This is my first post in the forum and I am not really sure if it is the correct place to post it.

Some years ago I purchased a Stellaris LM4F120 Launch Pad.

For one reason or other, I didn't open it, and haven't used it so far. So, right now I finally opened it, and intend to use it to do some development. I am still learning how to do this and what tools to use. I think I installed a IAR Embedded Workbench in my computer some time ago too (again, never used it)

I have found though that apparently this product has been replaced by the Tiva-C Launch Pad....

So I would like to hear any advice, comment or pointer about if I am going to find any problems with the current tools and software and how to proceed.

Can the current boosterpacks work with my pad??

The equivalent TM4C device for LM4F120 is as listed in the post below

e2e.ti.com/.../258781

They are still usable with the define PART_IS_TM4C123_RA3 and TARGET_LM4F120H5QR for the current software.

Thank you for your reply. I am understanding that except for a few things (PWM was mentioned somewhere) I can use the software for the old Stellaris, is that right?

what is these PART_IS_TM4C123_RA3 and TARGET_LM4F120H5QR? Are they #defines in the C code?

Yes, that is correct. Also the defines are used for Pin Map and ROM Function Mapping.

Thank you very much.

May I ask , is there a "Hello World" kind of project page I can see, to be up and running with doing development with the Stellaris quick and easy??

I would greatly appreciate if I can get a link for that resource. I googled it but found nothing that can help me.

I believe that once I get a trivial hello world running, the rest more complicated programs can come quickly.

Due to time constraints, I am using Energia to control the Lauchpad.
I am planning to use CCS Cloud in the future.

I have a more basic question (well actually two sorry)

1) so far the launchpad is getting power from the USB. Can I also power the launchpad from a battery or power source?? Is it 3.3V??

2) I want to use SPI. where can I find a pins illustration of the Stellaris? and any example of SPI implemented in it would be very much appreciated

I am really sorry but I have read that manual and I dont find the information I am looking for.
The pin distribution for example does not mention anything with SPI. I have seen more detailed explanations somewhere but can't find it now.
Also, I guess this launchpad can only be powered by connecting it to a PC. In the end, are the pins 3.3V based? or 5V based??

I was hoping to rapidly prototype a SPI slave with this but I am losing hope it is possible...

Look at table 2-3 to 2-6. The SSI Pin distribution is given.

Also if you look at the Schematic it is clear that

1. If you move power selector switch to USB VBUS then ICDI will not provide 5V
2. You can use H18 to supply 5V

A coin cell may not be possible due to the current requirements from the LaunchPad.
