Tiva -Multiple footprints generated using Ultra librarian

Hi,

I used Ultra librarian and generated  schematic and pcb footprint library files to be used in Altium for TM4C1294KCPDT  . The generated pcb library file contain three different footprints  PDT0128A_L, PDT0128A_M and PDT0128A_N.The schematic is by default linked to PDT0128A_N.  The main difference between three footprints is the pad dimension and PDT0128A_M has a smaller overall dimension. 

My question is if the schematic is by default linked to PDT0128A_N ,what is the use of other footprints ?

How does the user identify which one is the correct footprint to be used ?
