Adding a LCD to TMP5704357BZWTQQ1

I’m looking to use the TMP5704357BZWTQQ1 in my new design. I need the lock step capability as it’s a radio for a commercial aircraft. .  As part of this design update, we are looking at moving toward a ruggedized RGB LCD.  The new display will likely be a 4.3” 16:9 size. I know there is no LCD controller in the Hercules family and I have seen this post https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/hercules/f/312/t/458620. I have a few questions below

I’m wondering if there is a TI library/software from that interfaces to a LCD? – If not is there one coming?

Any opinion on using a parallel interface to a LCD or using a serial interface with the controller embedded in eth display?

Does TI have any suggestions on the best way to add a LCD to part I have chosen.

Cheers

Calum

  • Hi Calum,

There is no LCD graphics library that has been released by TI for Hercules MCUs. I will check if there is a plan to release one and get back to you.

As for the criteria for choosing a display, it obviously depends on several factors to be decided by the application designer. For example, the parallel interface implemented on the tmdx570ls20smdk kit uses a 16-bit external memory interface. You can certainly use this same interface with the LC4357. If you use displays with SPI or I2C interfaces, the interface bandwidth is certainly reduced, but normally these displays have some memory buffer as well to address the interface bandwidth bottleneck.

  • Hi good day
I wonder what kind of screen, you want to use?
