EK-TM4C1294XL board general questions

I am thinking of using these, or similar type boards such as Arduino, as the main controller in a control systems product I design/sell. My current HW solution/source has become very unreliable, so I are looking at other solutions, but do such a low quantity of sales that custom designing a new HW platform from scratch is not an a realistic option. My idea is to use this board, along with another board that has all the I/O required stuff such as power supplies, Opto inputs, output drive relays, I/O connectors, and multiple RS232/422/485 serial port driver chips.

1) Is there an official road map for this board that would identify how long it will be available and supported?

2) Do the Eagle files available allow me to go get the boards manufactured myself like I can in the Arduino world?

3) If I decide to get custom boards done based on the Eagle files, will I still be able to interface to it in the same way with the same tools as the original board. ie. will the micro controller be the same with respect to the boot loader and debug support stuff?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

  • Hello Jeff,

The TI Connected LaunchPad and EVM's are not certified for use in end equipments and note that TI has not liability on any undesirable effects it may cause. So you must understand the risk in using the same.

The ICDI which is the COM port and JTAG debug uC on the launchpads firmware is not available. So you would need to have a JTAG connector for development which can work with XDS100 series of debuggers
