RM48 HDK: PRSC module failed to write to a router register

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952, RM48L950

Hi,

I posted a week ago about a strange error we had on a HDK board. We scrapped the board and got a new one. We have similar errors back.

Specifically:

CortexR4: Error connecting to the target: (Error -2062 @ 0x0)

Unable to halt device. Reset the device, and retry the operation.

If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).

(Emulation package 6.0.14.6)

and if we are lucky we'll get:

CortexR4: Error connecting to the target: (Error -6305)

PRSC module failed to write to a router register.

(Emulation package 6.0.14.6)

Our development environment has not changed, except CCS did some updates recently, I can't find exact version numbers.

This problem does not happen with XDS100V2 programming cables, nor does the problem go away if I lower the JTAG speed.

Can anyone suggest what's happening?. I don't think its possible that we have scrapped 2x HDK boards in a week.

Thanks

Stomp!

  • Hi Stomp,

I am sorry hearing that. Can you please tell me which emulator did you use to get this problem? Normally I use 7MHz for TCLK. Since the JTAG signals are routed to several places on the board, high TCLK frequency and long JTAG cable may cause JTAG connection issue.

  • Hi QJ,

    Thanks for your response.

Just to clarify, we are using the Hercules Develop Kits (HDK) boards with the onboard XDS100V2 Compatible adapter. Our development environment has been the same for some years and we have had good success with HDK boards and our own hardware.

I am pointing towards a recent update of CCS that may have been the start of these problems as I don't see how we have destroyed 2x HDK boards, yet our production hardware (configured using XDS100V2 (Spectrum Digital)) JTAG adapters works fine.

The "test connection" feature works fine for all our hardware, except we particularly get the "PRSC Module" error only on HDK boards., not on production hardware.

Is it possible that a recent CCS update (eumlation package 6.0.14.6) could have caused this issue?

Its interesting to note that on our production hardware we use RM48L952'C'ZWTT's and the HDK uses RM48L950'A'ZWTT.

In both device cases we only clock the device at 200MHZ.

    Any thoughts would he great!.

    Thanks
    Stomp!
