LM4 ICDI driver doesn't show in device manager anymore

Hello,

I'm using Stellaris LM4F LaunchPad with Energia IDE and all out of the sudden the USB/ICDI driver stopped working and nothing appears in the list of USB devices in the device manager (I'm using Windows 8 - 64-bit), in Energia I got this message: "unable to find any icdi devices", and for sure nothing appears in the COM port devices from inside Energia, is the USB portion of the board is completely burned out and needs a replacement?

What does the window device manager show when you connect the Board?

It shows nothing, as if no device is connected at all.

Hello Karim,

There could be 2 things that have happened

1. The ICDI device is damaged
2. The Application code that you were trying to flash to the Main MCU ended up being the ICDI MCU. Are you using USB on the Main MCU?

Hi Amit,

Not at all, I wasn't developing any USB application on the main MCU, it was a simple application to control a servo motor from one of the GPIO pins, is there any debugging I can to confirm whether the ICDI device is damaged or not?.

And by the way it seems the application is just running fine on the main MCU (there is a PWM linked to the red LED on-board and working as expected).

Hello Karim,

It is rather tough to say what may have happened to the ICDI.

1. Check if the MOSC is oscillating on the ICDI
2. Check if the VDDC of the ICDI is 1.2V

Both of the above may be tough as there is no Test Point for the ICDI.

Hi Amit,

Thanks for tips, I couldn't measure the MOSC cause I don't have an oscilloscope, but the VDDC (pin 25 on the chip) is at 1.2v.
Another thing the green LED on the ICDI section of the board is on, indicating it is powered.

The Green LED is Power ON LED, so that should be not relevant

That was a side note, disregard it, the measured VDDC is 1.2v.

Sorry, unfortunately I don't have access to an oscilloscope to check the MOSC pin, any other option to measure it.

No. I don't think a LA probe will do the job (it may loads the crystal trace)
