Power Cycling error: "Unable to Initialize Target-1"

Hello Muhammad,

The LMFlashProgrammer does not Power Cycle the board. it only runs the control sequence for Unlock. Power Cycling must be done manually.

I have a similar problem. I was able to successfully unlock the TM4C1294XL eval board, but it's still not working. The LM Flash Programmer claims that the unlock succeeded. I also performed the process using SPMA075 as a reference from the command line using a Blackhawk USB-200 emulator. However, I still can not connect to the board from CCS using the ICDI connection. I get two errors, one that is Frequency Out of Range. The other is Unable to connect to target -0!. Any help appreciated. Btw, we have several boards in this state right now.

Were the boards working fine for some time when the issue occurred?

Yes, they were. They also appear to still be running. I have an I2c Fan controller connected and when the system boots, the fan controllers initialize to full speed and then the software commands them to 50% duty cycle. I can not connect to the TIVA, but the fans start up and then go to half speed, so I think it's working.

Disconnect the FAN if you can and then check if the Connect via JTAG works. If you have followed the steps as provided in the JTAG application note, then there is no reason why the device should not get unlocked.

Also do you have JTAG pull up installed on the board?

I am using the TM4C1294XL Launchpad. I have the eval board totally disconnected from all external interfaces.

I am not using a custom board. I am using the Tiva Connected Launchpad. I have disconnected the Launchpad from all external devices.

Sorry for the confusion. The Unlock Sequence from the LMFlashProgrammer should have worked. Can you please check in the device Windows manager if the ICDI is being discovered when the board is connected?

The unlock procedure says it completed successfully, but I can not connect to the board. I am using the same PC to work on other eval boards as I write this.

I want to check if the issue on the failing board is due to corrupted ICDI on the LaunchPad itself. A working board would be able to have ICDI also enumerated on the USB, but may be the issue is with the ICDI on the failing board. I am trying to eliminate as many possible conditions w/o having access to the board.

Do you have troubleshooting steps for me?

These boards were working during the prototyping process. I can not isolate a specific event or condition that caused them to fail. As I said, we are using the Connected Launchpad to do the prototyping. We have soldered wires to the breadboard connections for I2C0-12C3. Presently there is nothing connected to the I2C busses.

Most of the steps provided in the Troubleshooting document for JTAG is for custom boards. The LaunchPad recovery has worked almost all the time except if the TM4C129x device is damaged due to over voltage or over current, or ICDI firmware has been corrupted. That is why I am asking you to check if the ICDI enumerates or not as that is easier to find out.
