flash boot loader demo

Hello All,

H/W : TM4129NCZAD based custom board

S/W: Tivaware 2.1.1.71, flash boot loader demo project.

I am into developing an flash boot loader for TM4129NCZAD based custom board. While walking through the flash boot loader demo project, i am not able to find the file "bl_startup_ccs.s" in the CCS when I open the project. I am able to see the file "bl_startup_ccs.s" in the file manager.

I am attaching the screen shot

Thanks

Narendra

  • Hello Narendra,

Are you trying to import the "boot_demo_flash" project, in the "dk-tm4c129x" board's folder, into CCS?

If so, use the menu options "Project->Import CCS Projects...". Then broswe to the folder where "boot_demo_flash" project is located and import. This will import only the necessary files for "boot_demo_flash" project. I tried importing this project into CCS and can see the "startup_ccs.c" file under the "Project Explorer" window.

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Hi Sai,

I imported the project from the resource explorer.  I am also seeing the startup_ccs.c file.  I am not able to see the "bl_startup_ccs.s" which contains the SVC handler  " (*((void (*)(void))(*(unsigned long *)0x2c)))()".

    Thanks

    Narendra

  • Hello Narendra,

I was under the impression that you wanted to import the "boot_demo_flash" project. Your original post says "Flash bootloader demo" project. Are you trying to import the  "boot_demo_flash" or the bootloader itself?

If you are importing the "boot_demo_flash" project then "bl_startup_ccs.s" is not required.

"bl_startup_ccs.s" file is required by the bootloader. I imported the project "boot_emac_flash" from the dk-tm4c129x board into CCS and can see the "bl_startup_ccs.s" file. Please see the screen shot below.

Please use the menu options "Project->Import CCS Projects..." to import projects into CCS. Desktop and CCS versions of Resource Explorer is not fully supported with TivaWare.

    Thanks,

    Sai

  • Greetings Sai,

Poster inconsistencies (not just this one) occur often - Bravo on detecting, high-lighting - and guiding.

Posters (always) know what they want - yet too often prove inexpert in describing & detailing.    And - when their request proves "in conflict" (as occurred here) - what then?

Others/myself have (few times) suggested the creation of, "Poster Guidelines" which enforce a discipline so that key/critical facts - devoid of conflict - are presented w/in "first go."   Minus (any) guidelines - frustrated & rushed posters FAIL to help themselves - making your job so much harder and wearing...

  • Hello cb1,

Thanks for thinking and posting about the guidelines. We had the "Forum Guidelines" sticky post in the past. I will see if we can put it back. At the very least, we will have a post to link back, if the guidelines are not followed.

    Regards,
    Sai

  • Hello Sai and cb1,

Thanks for the clarification. I am sorry for not describing the issue I encountered and posting wrong info.
  • Hi Narendra,

No one seeks your sorrow, my friend. Most likely - posters arrive here frustrated & often rushed - neither condition aids their, "Clear & well thought writings" to fully & properly detail their issue. As a result - much time & effort is "wasted."

Posters will receive the best & fastest response by taking the time to, "Think & consider first - then LIST key/critical facts or findings!"

Making the helper/responder's job easier - not harder - proves best for all. I believe that "constant written reminder" which "guides" each/every post - can best achieve this goal.

The "slight" effort to institute these guidelines was noted (briefly) & discarded.    Having lived/worked in NYC, L.A. & Chicago - I note that city streets have multiple: traffic lights, stop/yield signs, and lane directives.   No "city planner" would even consider a roadway without such, "Guidelines."

This forum - good as it is - could become far better by the (simple) adoption & enforcement of (long existing) Poster Guidelines!   (Or - we could "shoot out" all traffic lights - tear down all Stop signs (i.e. operate, "Unguided!"))   Drivers and (posters) clearly KNOW what to do - do they not?
