TM4C129x PinMux utility conflicts with datasheet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C1294NCPDT, EK-TM4C1294XL

Customer is using the TM4C1294NCPDT (128 TQFP package). They are using the PinMux utility and found a conflict. The datasheet and Schematic for EK-TM4C1294XL state pins 53,54 are RX pins , 56.57 are TX pins. The tool has TX and RX pin name sets swapped. Is this OK?

  • Hi Tom,

I think the pin numbers you are referring to from the EK-TM4C129XL are for the edge connector, although the odd numbered pins are SSI not UART. If you look at the schematic for the Launchpad, these are again pins for the edge connector not the actual device. The device is a BGA so the pin naming is generally a latter and number such as 'A1.' To ease confusion it is better to reference as the port name. In this case Uart6 RX and Uart6 TX are on port pins PP0 and PP1. Can you cross check this with the pinmux tool and see if there is still a documentation conflict?
  • We figured it out. The customer had chosen the wrong device in the PinMux tool.

Some feedback on the tool - it doesn't show you what device you had selected once you make the selection. Displaying that someone on the screen would be helpful.
