Hi all,

I'm using TMS570LC43x Hercules Development Kit in my project and I new to this controller, I'm trying to implement Ethernet program and I'm referring below link for it.

I'm getting an error. I'm not understanding where are I'm missing the follow. On my console it showing

DEBUG - Getting PHY ID....................................................................................................................
..........................................................................................................................
.....................................................................!!! ERROR !!!
DEBUG - Getting PHY Alive Status...SUCCESS
DEBUG - Getting PHY Link Status...!!! ERROR !!!

I'm running DHCP server(dhcpsrv.exe it's third party tool, it's work like a DHCP sever) in separate pc and my board is connecting it through switch. Is this procedure is correct?

1. How to connect board to PC?

2. What is the setup process?

3.Whether I need switch between them?

4. I tried direct connection with the DHCP server, still not working.

5.How to try with Static IP? what is the procedure?

Please help me to solve this....

In these steps you are actually just talking to the PHY through the MDIO interface which is kind of like an I2C port.
Make sure the frequency is not set wrong. It's odd in my experience that the first test would say !!ERROR!! but the 2nd "SUCCESS" so this is seemingly something 'flaky'.

You should make sure that there is enough time between the start of the project and the MDIO access. The PHY needs a pretty big delay time (see phy datasheet) before the first clock on the MDIO port in order to reset this properly and we've had issues before where customers streamline the startup process on the MCU (maybe removing some of the self tests...) so that now the phy MDIO accesses start too soon. You could try adding delays for this.

Otherwise check the ethernet enable switches on your board, and make sure there isn't any type of problem on the MDIO/MDCLK clock lines.

Hi sir,

I put delay, after MDIOInit() as mentioned in
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../HALCoGen_Ethernet_Driver_and_lwIP_Integration_Demonstration.

But still I'm getting "PHY Link Status" error.

Hi,
I'm using .dil file to set HalCoGen, I took it from below link e2e.ti.com/.../download
it will set PLL,MDIO,EMAC, required Clock settings etc.. I referred below links and referred you suggestion providing delay before
MDIO access, and Ethernet cable and the connection is good.

But PHY link status error is still coming.
Please guide to resolve it.

Did you check the dip switches as Anthony suggested? Please refer your HDK user guide pages 10, 18 & 19. to enable Ethernet. -Joe

Yes i checked DIP S2 switch, Ethernet switch is ON other switches are OFF.

Basavanagouda, you could try delay before calling MDIOInit(). There is a spec in the phy datasheet that requires something like 160us between power up and the 1st clock on the MDIO. Delaying after MDIOInit() I don't think would work.
