RM46L852 MTBF/FIT Rate,

Hi,

Our customer's application is using RM46L852 and we need information about the FIT rate of this product.

According to the DPPM/FIT/MTBF estimator the RM46L852CZWTT has a FIT rate of 2.41.
We would like to know if this FIT rate applies only for the Hardware error
or does it apply for both hardware and software errors?

If it is only Hardware error, is there any way to find out the FIT rate which includes software.
Please let us know if there is any reference data on this.

Hi Kummi,
Can you please clarify if you referring to soft error or software error? A software error is a unintentional systematic error created by the software developer perhaps due to the lack of verification. The FIT rate estimator can not predict how well the software developers will create their application software.
If you are talking about soft errors which are due to the alpha and neutron radiation then the FIT rate estimator will cover them.

Can you please also tell me which exact estimator are you referring to?

I believe the customer is talking about the soft error.

And the FIT rate estimator we are referring to is below
DPPM/FIT/MTBF estimator at TI's website.

Hi Kummi,
The 2.41 FIT is a failure rate number based on High Temperature Life Test with limited test samples. It is a failure rate number by technology node. Transient failure rate is not included. Please use your device specific FMEDA tool for the FIT rate estimation. It will show you the raw FIT rate of both permanent and transient faults and also the same for both in terms of PMHF (Probabilistic Metrics for Random Hardware Failures) after the safety diagnostics are applied.

the customer has asked us for the "Reliability Field Data" of this device.
Can we assume there is no data or reference as such provided from TI?

Can you tell me why you need the Reliability Field Data and for what specific safety standard you are targeting?

Hi Charles,

Thank you for considering the request.
The customer's safety application is based on IEC 61508, currently they are preparing for the mass production.
We believe they want to collect these information for reliability-oriented calculations and characterization
before going to the production.

I am sorry to bother you,
can we assume there is not Field Data as such?

We have a request from the customer again about the Filed Data
or any reference data related to the Field Data. If not this device any other Hercules device
which the customer could use it as a reference.
