I will take a look. In the meantime can you check if you have the terminal matching with the MCU in terms of the baud rate, # of stop bits, parity and char length?

 I don't see any problem running your code as is. See below hyperterminal output. You are writing the character 'A' repeatedly. You might not have the baudrate setup correctly on your terminal.

The settings look ok. The only thing I can think of to check is the COM port. Is COM4 the right port to use. Please confirm by checking your Window device manager. For mine, COM13 is the one to use.

In my PC it is XDS110 Class Application/User Uart(COM4)... Any other alternative way of checking?

Is XDS110 connected to LinRX and LinTX?? In the schematic i see HERCULES_LIN1_TXD connected to 33pin of TM4C129ENCPDT.

  Yes the LIN is connected to the TM4C. 

  Can you check the LINTX pin with the scope to see if any activities. I use your exact code without modification and I'm able to see the data transmitted to my terminal. So the software configuration should be fine. You need to check the hardware and also the PC side.

I checked with LINTX pin as GIO and LINTX functionality ,setting that pin as HIGH. I could only see a LOW signal even if i set that pin HIGH.

 The problem is your line gioSetBit(scilinPORT,PIN_SCI_TX,1) where the PIN_SCI_TX is defined as 4. And in gioSetBit() you are doing a left shift of 4 bits to write to the TX Data Out register. If you look at the TRM the TX Data out bit is at bit2 not bit4.

I am using LINTX PIN in SCI mode and monitoring the pin I could see the data on scope. But my terminal is blank..I have set the data len,parity,Baud correctly ,checked with other PC also but NO LUCK!  

Any help on this?

I will suggest that you restart your PC and try again. Or you can use a different terminal tool. Below you can see that I use the CCS terminal to display the data the character 'A' at the lower right window. Before I was using HyperTerminal. Both of them work.To use the CCS terminal you go to View->Other->Terminal->Terminal. Once the Terminal 1 is opened in the CCS, there is an icon for the terminal setting and you will configure the baudrate and stuffs. Once done click on the 'connect' icon.

Both of your program and the LaunchPad are working. What is left is your PC. If your PC still does not work then you probably want to consult your IT department for troubleshooting your PC.

I have HDK -Hercules safety kit. The same code is working fine on that board,but not on launchxl2-rm46.

It is good to know that it works on your other board. So it works on my launchpad and your HDK board but not your launchpad. We can narrow the problem to your launchpad. If you have made any changes to the launchpad such as jumpers or anything in any way that you remembered doing, please restore to their original settings and try again.

Sorry for late reply as i was working on other module. Now i am getting the data on terminal but the issue is if i set the baud to 9600 i get the data for baud 600 ,if baud is 152000 i get the data at baud 9600.. some where it is getting divided by 16...the initial jumper settings are done as given in ti site.

Any suggestions on this will greatly help me.

Hi Shruthi,
What is your expected VCLK frequency? Can you also probe the ECLK pin? The ECLK is sourced from divided VCLK by default. So by measuring ECLK we can first confirm if your VCLK frequency is correct. The baud rate clock is derived from VCLK.

One more question. You said that it works on your HDK board, right? Can you also check that in the HDK board you are measuring the correct baudrate? If you measure correct baudrate on the HDK then there is something wrong with the launchpad.

I am getting ECLK as 6MHz and VCLK as 2MHz..when i run the program.

Should i change the source to ECLK as oscillator? or any changes in halcogen to be made as the clock source to SCI module is from VCLK1 which is 110MHz.

On both the boards i get the baudrate as 9600 when i measure in scope,while sending 'U' , but terminal is not printing at that baud..when i use launchpadxl2.

By default The ECLK is divided from VCLK. How can you get 6MHz on ECLK and 2MHz on VCLK. If you didn't change any divide ratio, by default the ECLK is divided by 8 from VCLK. So the VCLK should be 6 * 8 = 48MHz. But first of all, the 6MHz ECLK is not right to begin with. If you configure VCLK to be 110MHz using HalCoGen then the ECLK I will expect to be 13.75MHz.

You can try to source ECLK from OSC. What do you measure?

when i changed the source to oscillator ECLK is 100MHz and the terminal is echoing data at 9600! :)

Will this affect any other module ? should i use VCLK as source when using other modules?

There is something wrong with the information you provide. The OSC is supposed to be 16MHz. If the ECLK is sourced from OSC then ECLK can only be 16MHz at max. Can you tell me the register value you have for ECPCNTL register in the SYS module?

There is also the CLKTEST register that you can fiddle with. In the CLK_TEST_EN field write a 0x5 to it to enable clock test mode. IN the SEL_ECP_PIN field you can select among various different clock sources to output to the ECLK pin. Try this. For eample, if you set SEL_ECP_PIN=0000b then it will output OSC. If you set SEL_ECP_PIN=0001 it will output PLL. See section 2.4.4 Clock Test Mode for details.

Looks like you did not enable the ECPCLK as a functional pin. You need to set systemREG1->SYSPC1 = 1.
