Hercules safety demos no more downloadable

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, TMS570LS3137

Hi,

I have to evaluate the TMS570LS31 MCU for a new dev.

I'm using an Hercules Development Kit (rev. E board) and CCS 6.01.00040

To validate my tool and HW installation, I tried the Hercules Safety MCU Demos: all worked fine.

I made my own test, particularly playing with the EMIF module as my future app will have a lot of data to access to; there are some problems, but I leave them for another post.

The problem I want to submit is a new execution of the Hercules Safety MCU Demos. I no longer can download the .out file. Demo detects the absence of the executable and starts downloading. After a while, it stops showing couldn't download, try again.

I tested on a brand new installation of the SW suite: I get the same result!

So is there a kind of firmware I could have scrambled ?

When I am using nowFlash to erase the whole flash, I get:

"Error 135 - Algorithm has timed out, unable to coplete

Try increasing the timeout allowed for algo execution using - w option"

I tried with w box checked and 1, 3 and 5 value with the same negative outcome.

Downloading some code from CCS works well

Is there a way I can insure my eval board is still working well ?

Thanks for your replay

Marc

  • Hi Marc,

If you are able to download new code using CCS and if the code is running as expected hen I don't think there is anything wrong with board. Please use Uniflash as a preferred standalone programming tool than nowFlash.

Also if you can first use CCS to erase the part and later try to download the demo, will it give you a different result.

  • Hi Charles,

    Thanks for your answer.

After erasing the flash with CCS, the download of the Hercules safety demos works again.

I downloaded uniFlash and tried to install it. Unfortunately, there are no options for my MCU (a TMS570LS3137) or my evaluation board (a Hercules Development Kit) or the USB debug port (XDS100).
I kept all the default options checked but the install didn't run to its end. What am I missing ?

    Thanks a lot.

    Marc
  • Hi Marc,

it is a bit weird. I can see TMS570LS3137 on Uniflash. Perhaps the installation wasn't complete like you said. Can you please reinstall uniflash. Below screenshot is to in the New Target Configuration I can select XDS100 as the emulator and also select TMS570LS3137 in the Board or Device pulldown menu.

  • Thanks Charles for your support.

I reinstall uniFlash on an account with admin privilege and i can now erase the Flash on my board.
So i will click on the verify answer button
