TMS570LS1224 Emulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS1224, TMS570LS3137

Hi,

We want to find an emulator that support the system/core trace.

We find the tools&software in the TMS570LS1224  page but only find "XDS560v2 System Trace USB Debug Probe" is the one that could help. But seems like it needs the ETB (Embedded Trace Buffer) built into the core for the trace capability to work.

We find "XDS560v2 PRO TRACE Receiver & Debug Probe" will be more helpful but not sure if that  will work on TMS570LS1224 processor.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Bojun

  • Hi Bojun,

There isn't a trace solution that directly supports the TMS570LS1224 because that device does not include an ETM port.

However the TMS570LS3137 is basically a super-set of the TMS570LS1224.   It will execute the same code that runs on the TMS570LS1224 without modification and will be cycle accurate -- with one big exception which is that the TMS570LS3137 does not include the eCAP, eQEP, or ePWM peripherals.

Otherwise, what you need is the XDS PROTRACE with a TMS570LS3137 in a ZWT (BGA) package and a 60 pin MIPI emulation header.

You might need to build some sort of adapter board if you are using the LS1224 in the PGE package...

  • To do trace you need a device that has the ETM module. This is only on the larger devices such as TMS570LS3137ZWT and TMS570LS2124ZWT. The ETM is only on the BGA packages. The larger devices are pin compatible with the TMS570LS1224ZWT with the exception of not having the ePWM, eCAP or eQEP modules.
