RM48 Micro controller 1 sec delay generation with simple function.

Hi,

I need to generate different delay for my application based on the input from another processor. How to generate a delay of 1, 2 sec etc. What is the relation between clock speed of controller and the delay? I need support. I am using RM48 Microcontroller (I found that clock speed of the microcontroller is 220MHz and the VCLK speed of HET is 110MHZ. How to create a simple delay function?

Hi Manjunathan,

If you use the FreeRTOS port you will find a nice function for this - see vTaskDelay: www.freertos.org/a00127.html
Also look at how they use the #define portTICK_PERIOD_MS to convert between ticks or 'count' and actual seconds. (milliseconds to be precise..)

This simple bit of hardware abstraction is a good reason for you to consider building on top of an OS - I think you will find it well worth you while to try it out.

You could put a for loop with the index being a volatile global variable and time it ..
that's a simple approach but a poor one.
