Purchasing TM4C12 from TI store

I am having this problem while purchasing TM4C123 launchpad from TI store.

When i try to enter my debit card details i can't enter the expiry date which is 06/2034 because there is option only upto 2026.

What should I do?

  • Hello Siladittya,

You would need to contact TI eStore support. Anyways I have also sent an email to them informing the same.

Have you not encountered this (very) problem elsewhere - as well?  (you surely will)

That's a long, long period - and extends your (potential) liability far into the future.   (too far, I'd say)

A request for a more reasonable expiration date (3-5 years out) seems (much) in order - and superior to "single vendor" (multiple such vendors) requests!  (which vendors will "surely/duly note" and then take NO/ZERO Action!)   Not to ask - "How I know?"

  • I'm a little surprised the site accepts debit cards. I've yet to run across a site that does. My debit card has a similarly long expiry, unlike my credit cards.

  • Hello Robert,

It does. I have ordered one device 3 years back with a debit card

  • The things one learns. Interesting.

  • Anecdotal yet taught in (other than) engineering school:

Individuals w/large balances residing on debit cards are FAR more vulnerable to improper charges (i.e. fraud, etc.) than those incurred via credit cards. While unauthorized debits (may) be recovered - the process is long and often arduous.

Debit card holders have been reported to have "passed on" - yet the trickle of debits continues - until the card (finally) descends to zero balance... Long expiration dates expose card holders to misfortune - and if the card sees high usage - it will surely "wear out" far in advance of any such advanced, expiration date.

  • It does wear out, usually the contacts degrade before the expiry. Balances though I don't understand.

  • Those balance "invasions/subtractions" most always occur w/out the (dead person's) knowledge or approval! Long lingering debit card expirations (surely) expose debit card users (alive or dead) to higher incidences of fraud...
  • Dead persons bank accounts are usually restricted are they not? And this would be a danger with all automatic withdrawals

    Robert
  • Not always - and not as quickly as (all) would like. Debit cards are the most targeted by those who insert "skimmers" - not all such account invasions are "single" events...
  • You thinking mag stripe?

It's been a long time since I've seen a debit card with only a mag stripe and I don't think any of the machines in the country would accept mag stripe for a local card. I think they only have mag strip readers for US cards. Not that chip is completely immune but they are a lot more difficult to clone.

Of course card not present still has an enhanced risk.
