Dear All,

I'm a bit confused on the meaning of the following statement grabbed from the first tms570lc4 datasheet: "Up to 145 Pins Available for General-Purpose I/O".

Then I found only 2 PIO 8 bits wide each, GIOA and GIOB.

My question is:

Can I expect to have an independent single bit access (for custom waveform configuration) on "up to 145 pins(bits)"? Or should I expect that I have only 16 bits available for custom waveform generation?

Thanks a lot in advance for any advice you can give me.

The peripheral pins can also be used as GPIO when they are not being used for the peripheral function.

Each peripheral is different. In general you can use HALCoGen to setup the initial state of the pin, then use the defines created by HALCoGen to read or change the state of the pin. For example here is how I setup MibSPI1 pin SOMI[1] as an output high. I highlighted the changes I made from the default state in yellow.

The registers used to control the pins are defined in the TRM. On page 1490 is the definition of the SPI Pin Control 3 register, which defines the output state of the SPI pins when used as general purpose outputs. SOMI[1] is controlled by bit 25.

I can set the pin high with:

spiREG1->PC3 |= (1 << SPI_PIN_SOMI_1);

or I can set the pin low with:

spiREG1->PC3 &= ~(1 << SPI_PIN_SOMI_1);

The defines are in header files created by HALCoGen. You need to include "HL_spi.h".
