Regarding OSCRNG feature

Hello,

I have question in TM4C129x datasheet.
There is OSCRNG register in MOSCCTL. What feature is OSCRNG? If OSCRNG is set wrong value, then is SYSCLK frequency influenced?

I guess OSCRNG control current for loop-gain of MOSC and external Crystal. So even though using greater than 10MHz, like 25MHｚ oscillator, but OSCRNG=0, then MOSC may not goes to 25MHz, right?

Hello Yuji,

The OSCRNG affects the drive strength of the OSC pads of the device. So if it not set correctly, the 25MHz may not oscillate correctly on the amplitude.

Thank you for your reply.
When OSCRNG is set incorrectly, is there any effect to waveform of external oscillator? And, is there any possibility to make SystemClock apparently slow ?

Hello Yuji,

If the OSCRNG is incorrectly set then it could affect the oscillations for sure. Now whether it would slow it down or quicken it, would depend on a lot on the type of silicon, crystal, etc.
