RM42L432

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM42L432

The part I am considering is the RM42L432, which should meet our connectivity and processing power requirements. I have a few questions though before I start redesigning this board.

  1. What kind of life cycle is expected for these parts? I imagine safety rated chips have longer than normal life cycles, but I’d like to know what TI plans for them.
  2. What kind of development tools are needed for the SIL3 rating on these chips (IDE, compiler, etc)? Are any particular programmers needed for the Hercules line?

  • The Hercules family, which RM43L432 is a part of, are designed into automotive and industrial applications. Parts for these applications do tend to have a much longer life cycle than parts designed for consumer applications.

Here is some information on the tools that TI can provide to help you meet SIL3 requirements: SAFE TI Design Packages
