Tiva-Controller and CAN-FD

Hello,

I haven't found anything about this on the forums, yet. We want to use some CAN-FD-Tranceivers on our hardware and therefore I have a few Questions about :

- Is there any roadmap, when the protocol will be supported by your MCUs?
- Are the Tiva-MCUs CAN-FD tolerant or will it create errors? Especially for automotive use-cases this would be interesting.

Hello Fabian,

TM4C is not an automotive grade micro-controller. Also at the same time the requirement for device in automotive industry is governed by ISO/IEC standards. TM4C does not implement design elements based on the standard. Lastly we do not plan to support CAN FD, but other devices which will be automotive quality like TMS320 and TMS570/470 should be the right set of devices.

Hello Amit,

The main question is, are the TM4Cs CAN-FD tolerant? So will the controller get into an error-state when the flag is set on a rx-message or just ignor it?

Hello Fabian

No. It is not. The CAN controller is a CAN 2.0 controller which will not work for CAN FD that uses a different framing structure.
