hi,

I feel that ek-tm4c1294xl is more used compared to dk-tm4c129x.

The major difference is in the mcu involved.

The cost factor aside, tm4c129xnczad has crypto hardware accelerators and  tm4c1294ncpdt doesn't.

I am building an iot application, would this security aspect play a key role? Or would it suffice if i used tm4c1294ncpdt ?

Thanks

av

  • I guess you need to answer this question yourself.

If you want/need to hide application specifics, or want/need restrict access to your application, and missing hardware support for en/decryption breaks your application (performance-wise), then the more expensive MCU is indicated.

I am building an iot application, ...

IOT is on of the currently most popular buzzwords. Others might disagree, but I don't want my coffee machine, fridge, or water meter to share my private information in an uncontrolled and uncontrollable fashion. Just my personal opinion.

  • Apart from the DK-TM4C129X board, the EK-TM4C129EXL LaunchPad (which has the TM4C129ENCPDT device) also has the Crypto hardware accelerators available. All the other peripherals are exactly same as the EK-TM4C1294XL LaunchPad.

    Thanks,
