Dear Forum,

are there any pcb layout guidelines for the ETM trace signals? Do I need to be concerned about matching lengths due to timing?

Hi Keith,

I will suggest the ETM trace signals have source termination resistor close to the MCU. Keeping the length short and matching will certainly help as the ETM is a DDR meaning the data switches at both clock edges. I will also suggest you to use the IBIS models to simulate the signal integrity. The IBIS model can be found at www.ti.com/.../spnm043.

There is also an application note about trace headers with some guidelines in it SPRU655, but this isn't specific to Hercules.
