Regarding LPOCLKDET module in TMS570LS0332

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

I would like to know what exactly the range the LPOCLK module based on the LPO HF frequency.

I configured the LPO HF to 10MHz in HALCoGen and ESM interrupt (Group 1 channel 11).  I have following questions.

1. If LPO HF is 10MHz, is OSCIN freqency range 2.5 MHz to 40 Mhz?

2. In datasheet attached figure below, what is the lower and upper threshold?

Thanks & Best Regards,

  • The frequency of the high frequency low power oscillator (HFLPO) varies greatly from device to device and over temperature and voltage. Untrimmed it may vary from 5.5 to 19.5MHz. Since it compares the crystal frequency to 1/4 the HFLPO and 4x the HFLPO there is a range at both ends were it may or may not detect that the crystal is out of range. These areas are the lower and upper threshold in the diagram above. Using HALCoGen to trim the HFLPO to 10MHz means that it is now somewhere between 8 and 11MHz. That means the LPOCLKDET will detect an error if the crystal is below 2MHz or above 44MHz. It may detect an error between 2MHz and 2.75MHz and it may detect an error between 32MHz and 44MHz. If the HFLPO happened to be at 10MHz exactly, yes the limits would be below 2.5MHz and above 40MHz.
