Recommend of the safety mechanism

I am reading "Safety Manual for TMS570LS31x and TMS570LS21 x Hercules ARMR-Based Safety Critical Microcontrollers (Literature Number: SPNU511D)".

Safety mechanism in the summary description of ,"recommend", "mandatory", "highly recommend" what is not ,

the request from the TI is not , do you not match the recognition of user-defined ?

I want you to see if there is such as a list of the recommend corresponding to the safety mechanism.
  • I am sorry, but I do not understand the question. Would you please try to rephrase your question?
  • Hi,Bob Crosby.

    I'm sorry,I rephrase question again.

I am reading "Safety Manual for TMS570LS31x and TMS570LS21 x Hercules ARMR-Based Safety Critical Microcontrollers
    (Literature Number: SPNU511D)".

I want to know whether Safety mechanisms are need to implement.
Do you have list which"mandatory"or "highly recommend"or"recommend"or"option"are allocate to Safety mechanism?
If you have list,I want you to show it.
  • We do not provide a list of safety requirements because the safety level must be determined based on the whole system. We can provide tools to help you in that process. I am passing this thread to one of our safety experts. He will probably invite you to a private forum as some of the information requires your acceptance of a non-disclosure agreement.
  • Hello Arriiy,

As Bob mentioned, the choice of safety mechanism to be implemented is a system/application level decision based on which elements you use and your system safety requirements. The decisions usually rely on both a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the MCUs use in your application. For the qualitative analysis (FMEAs) you would need to examine the various elements of your system, determine the associated failure modes, and indicate the safety mechanisms that can detect those specific failure modes. For the qualitative assessment,

TI provides tools that can be used to evaluate the impact of the diagnostic coverage for an element and other associated safety parameters given the inclusion of specific safety mechanisms. More details on these tools can be discussed in the Private SafeTI forum as much of the information to support this discussion is TI proprietary and covered under NDA. If you do not already have a SafeTI NDA in place granting you access to the Private SafeTI forum, you can complete the NDA request at this link: www.ti.com/safetyanalysis
