RTOS LCD display support

Hi,

We're using a TIVA TM4C129XNCZAD MCU with the TI RTOS version 2_14_00_10 in our project. The SDK that comes with this processor uses a 3.5" Kentec LCD that uses the SSD2119 driver chip. Apparently this chip is being discontinued, and we can't find any LCDs (Kentec or others) in our desired size (2.8") that uses the SSD2119 chip and is actually available to purchase.

Is there another display driver chip that the TI RTOS supports? Hopefully the new driver chip will give us more LCD options to select from.

Support for specific drivers is provided by the device team and by TivaWare. I went ahead and moved this thread over to the device forum in hopes that it will get a faster response there.

Hello Fred,

As of now we are not supporting any other display driver other than SSD2119. However most drivers for smart panel follow the same configuration and it would be register value update, register addition or deletion to the existing configuration.. If there any specific LCD panel that you would like to use?

Hi Amit,

Thanks for responding to my question. The ILI9341 driver chip seems to be a popular replacement for the SSD2119. So, we're considering an LCD manufactured by “East Rising”, part # “ER-TFT024-3 LCD” for our application.

Let me know if you have any porting advice for this LCD / controller chip,

Can you please send the link to the datasheet for the LCD controller and the Touch Controller so that we can see if we can evaluate the same as well.

Hello Fred

The reference code is given on the link. You can adapt the existing driver for display with the new display code. I rekon it should work. Are you planning to use the parallel mode or SPI mode?

Hi Amit,

We're planning on using the parallel mode. I know that they provide sample init code for another MCU, and with a little effort it could be ported to the TIVA MCU. However, I'm concerned about proper interrupt handling and data processing within the TI RTOS, and correctly creating all the new grlib calls.

GrLib has been designed to work on bare-metal OS. You will have to check with TI-RTOS on how the TouchHandler and Graphics callback are handled.
