I2C buses

Hello,

We are using TM4C129 in our design. IT has various sensors on board. Since TM4C129 has more i2C buses , we connected different devices / sensors to different I2C buses instead of using a single i2c bus with external multiplexer. Would like to know whether this would work fine? will the software code be complicated since most of the i2c buses are utilized?

The I2C spec. is a recommended read.

This bus uses 7-bit (or 10-bit) addresses, thus is capable of addressing multiple devices (with different addresses) on the same bus.

Using different buses (a non-resolvable address conflict notwithstanding) is a waste of resources, and might even hog GPIO pins required for other peripherals.

The I2C bus has 7-bit addressing but in this mode some of the addresses are reserved. Other than that I agree with your assessment.

I was referring to the I2C standard in general, which knows a 10-bit address mode, too.

To be honest, I not yet came across a device actually supporting or using it (or amnesia/dementia sets in ... ;-) )

Agree. Neither have I seen a 10-bit address slave yet.
