How to obtain a valid MAC address?

Hi,
is there any option to obtain a valid, unique MAC address for the TI products?
For example something similar to Microchip EUI-48  "www.microchip.com/.../chart.aspx chips.

  • Hi Szilard:

MAC addresses are assigned by the IEEE organization, so they remain unique (not used by different products).

    Here is a starter: standards.ieee.org/.../regauth.html

You can purchase a small block of addresses for about $500.

If you just want to test something, find an "unused" Ethernet PCI card and simply put its MAC address in your product. Thus, no one else will use that MAC address because you are holding the original card.

Neither TI nor anybody except IEEE should be assigning MAC addresses.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Garry,
I just assumed, that TI already bought an address space for their products.
I don't need it for free, but "Texas Instruments" would look better than a "noname oem" in the database query.. :)
