TMDX570LC43HDK availibility

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL2-570LC43

Dear TI guys,

I have noticed there is no option to order the HDK board ($200) only. Now there is available just a complete bundle (20 times more expensive) with the debugger. Is this just a temporary state? Or did TI change a business strategy with this product?

Thanks for you clarification,

Best regards, Jiri

  • Jiri,

I think in this case that kit is sold out, but we're almost decided that we won't build any more because we have the LaunchPad for the TMS570LC43x and this is much less expensive and almost as capable [what's missing can be added now via expansion headers.. ]

  • Annthony,

can you review this decision? LaunchPad don't have any external RAM or option to add it. And without external RAM we (and not only we) have 2 significant disadvantages:

    • external RAM allows to save hugde volume of debug informations
    • internal RAM must be destroyed completely on BOOT (ECC init). There is no space to persist informations over reboot. For example debug informations about crash.

Are there any available boards which mate to the mezzanine headers on the LAUNCHXL2-570LC43 to make use of the EMIF, e.g. to add external SDRAM?

  • Hi Jiri, Yes understood but as Chester mentions it is possible to add both SDRAM, flash and what not to the Launchpad.

Chester, yes and no. Yes we have designed one. Actually our summer intern designed it right before she left for school.
We haven't fabricated it yet but layout is complete. On my long to-do list to get this fab'd and tested and written up.
Idea is we would make the design (gerbers) available and if you want this add-on you could fabricate straight from the design files.

    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Anthony
