What is the max sink and source for the Hercules GPIOs?

I’m trying to find out what the max sink/source current is for the Hercules processors GPIO ports.  If an output is driving high on the Hercules and I ground it low externally, will that damage the port. Or are they current limited with a 1.5k on their outputs? And vice versa, when they are low can I pull them high without damage. The datasheet implies that there is a 1.5k current limiter on there i/o pins.

  • There is no internal current limit to protect a shorted output other than the channel resistance of the output transistor. Currents higher than the rated output buffer drive strength (2mA, 4mA or 8mA) may affect the input levels or output drive of other pins. Currents in excess of 20mA may cause permanent damage to the part.
