Resistor partition network with 5V tolerant GPIO

Hi Support,

can you kindly confirm me if the following partition resistor network can work with both 3,3VDC as well as with 5V tolerant GPIO?

Thanks and regards,

Alberto

  • Hello Alberto

Yes, it can work for 5V tolerant IOs. What is the resistor partition for?
  • A few concerns

    • No overvoltage protection
    • No undervoltage protection
    • No filtering
    • No current limit for the micro's ESD diodes
    • Is ~0.1mA enough of a wetting current?

    Robert

  • And - should that (bottom) resistor NOT be tied firmly to ground - or be too (high) in value - disaster looms.  (220K is but ONE (close-color) band away!)

Poster Robert has (again) "nailed it" w/his listing.

Imposing any capacitance (to enable a filter) with those (way) high resistance values - will "slew" your waveforms. (slowing the frequency response - although at 24V signal levels - high speed may not be "in play.")
