Hi,

I am using the tm4c123gh6pm microcontroller to make a display for a car, kind of like a dashboard. I used to use the tm4c launchpad, but needed to design a board for packaging purposes. I used to have a board that had peripherals that plugged into the bottom(with the screen being the top layer). Now the chip and peripherals are on the same board, so the packaging is thinner. I am having problems with the screen displaying clearly. It worked on the launchpad, but does not work on the board I designed(same code was used when testing the two). I have attached pictures and the schematic for the board I designed. The first os what it looks like on my designed board, and the second is what it is supposed to look like(it's plugged into the launchpad here). Any help on the matter is appreciated!

  • Would not your creation of a very simple Display Test Program (perhaps an 8 pixel tall/wide "cross-hair") provides a good starting point?

    You don't speak to other MCU functions - their correctness and/or completeness. That would prove useful - would it not?

    You may wish to scope the "cross-hair" signals at the display - first when operating correctly - and second when failing. Compare/contrast of that "brief data passage" should prove of great value.

    Such is an illustration of the many advantages of KISS - "Divide & Conquer" makes your task far more manageable - and leads to success...

  • Thanks for the suggestions. We found the issue after some searching. It turned out that one of the data pins for the screen was mistakenly not connected to the header pins for the screen. After connecting the pin to the MCU, everything worked as expected.

    Not a bad looking screen - and we (especially) like your font.    Might you share the font's name?

    We appear to have similar interests - here's a "digital dashboard" we produced for Ferrari - circa mid '80's!    (I (still) have the 308GTB which received this "slip-in" instrument package.)

    That circular (120 element) bargraph (Tach, center), and dual, linear (200 element each) bargraph (Fuel, Volts) left, bottom were both from "Burroughs."   They were most unique (hypnotic) Plasma Gas Discharge Displays - and appeared w/in several movies & TV shows.   There's a digital compass & security system and each/every critical sensor/system was monitored & examined/set via the illuminated keypad.

    We were approached by Detroit's Big Two - were "counting the money/deciding upon (which) island to buy" when it was discovered that the mercury content (required) by these displays made them "unsafe" to store in volume.   ("Hello, Island Sales - About that isle purchase...)
