TM4C1294KCPDT: TM4C1294 life cycle

Part Number: TM4C1294KCPDT

I'm trying to replace an obsolete LM3S9D92. Lae last thing our client wants is to visit the obsolete part redesign again any time soon. Where can I find the life cycle information on the TM4C1294?

  • Hello Loren

TM4C129x device has been in production for just over 2 years. We do not think there is an EOL planned on this device for the next few years.
  • Thanks. I was hoping for a date far in the future (like 2025) but I suspect since it is only 2 years old it will be around awhile.

    Regards,
    Loren
  • You may search for a device w/broad, general features - none too "rare or specific." In that way - migration - painful as it may be - is achieved w/minimal, "pain & suffering."

You & your client could solve your, "supply forever" objective by making regular purchases - insuring that you're always adequately stocked.    As often happens - you/your client "resist" - and seek to shift the entire "build/test/stock" burden to the vendor.

Minus your contractual commitment - can you (reasonably) expect the vendor to produce parts for you - far into the future?    Reality is not always pleasant - yet should be accepted...

  • Unfortunately we we burned with the LM3SD92 going EOL suddenly right after we started full production. We don't want to get burned again and our client wants a lifecycle commitment not just good intentions.
  • You/your client were, "far from alone" in the notorious LM3S fiasco. (you may read my writings here - strongly protesting the "less than sterling" manner in which the "beheading of LM3S" was handled.)

BTW - do you believe that you've received ANYWHERE NEAR a "lifecycle commitment" right here? It is almost iron-clad that NO vendor will make such a one-sided commitment! (as my earlier post detailed...) Reality must be accepted!
  • Hello Loren,

Even though the LM3S decision is very unfortunate for a lot of customers, I have to agree with cb1. No vendor can given a commitment.
