TMS570LC4357: Certifications - ISO 26262 ASIL D & IEC 61508 SIL 3

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hello,

I want to order HDK for my functional safety project. I was looking for HDK which are having the provision of  functional safety ( ISO 26262 ASIL D & IEC 61508 SIL 3) and ePWM , QEP.  When I was comparing the models I found that TMS570LC4357 is no longer certified with  functional safety  standards.

In details, when I was going through the datasheet , I found

Is it like - Though it  is not certified, you can use in the development of  functional safety applications. If I developed the functional safety application in LC4357 , I can flash it on functional safety certified Controllers

having full compatibility.  Is it the case ? or I misunderstood ?

Regards,

Suyog

  • Hello Suyog,

The table you have posted is not correct. The TMS570LC4357 device is certified to ISO26262 and IEC61508. Here is a link to the certificate indicated it certifications: http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/spnq012/spnq012.pdf

What is likely to have happened here, is that the table you are looking at was never updated when the certification was completed. I've navigated around some of the product information pages on ti.com and cannot locate the table you have copied and pasted into your post. If you can provide a link to the page that has the incorrect table, I can forward the issue to the content owner so they can get the table corrected.

  • Hello,

Thank you very much !! Really,  this sorted out my all the issues.

Here's link for TMS 570 homepage.

I am  having 1 more query regarding ePWM, eCAP, eQEP on LS3137PGE MCU. These MCU are  not equipped with these features,  Is it right ?

Can you suggest me better MCU series  than LS1227 PGE?

    Requirement-

    1. functional safety standards certified
    2.   ePWM, eCAP, eQEP channels
    3. package - LQFP

    Regards,

    Suyog

  • Hello Suyog,

You are correct that the LS3137 device does not support the 'e' timer modules. In regard to LQFP offerings with the 'e' timers we have the TMS570LS0x32 devices, the TMS570LS07x/09x devices and the TMS570LS12xx devices. What is the specific limitation on the LS1227 that is an issue for you? Performance? Memory size? The LS1227 is going to be the highest performance device with the e timers available in a LGFP package. The only other alternative might be to go to the LC4357 as you indicated in your original post.
