TM4C1290NCPDT: Recommended board sites for PCB manufacturing

Part Number: TM4C1290NCPDT

Hello, we just finished a design and layout of our product using the TM4C1290NZAD (Ball Grid package) only to have 3 board houses who advertise they can go down to 3mil trace & space no-bid the job due to trace width & space violations. We are now re-doing the layout with the TM4C1290NCPDT package using 5 mil traces & 5 mil spaces. Our via's had and still do have a hole diameter of 5 mil's with an annular ring of 5 mils for a total of 15 mils diameter. We also followed T.I.'s guideline for PCB layout with fine pitch BGA parts on the first attempt with the BGA part.

I'm wondering who you used (if anyone other than internal?) or can recommend a board house that can laser drill via's and handle 5mil trace and space without a lot of B.S.

Thanks

  • Dan,
Particularly on a day when Mr. D.T. is enjoying his inauguration, can I suggest a manufacturer in China? We buy from one with actually good results.
That, is - would vias with 8mil holes and 6mil rings be too big for your routing? This is their current limitation without a lot of B.S. as you said...
(my fate is that mostly everything I sign has mandatory B.S. involved...)

  • Hello Dan,

It would seem that the via drill size was likely the issue.

Have you seen TI's Application Note SPMA056?  It demonstrates routing for the 212-BGA using 4-mil space/trace with 18/8 or 18/9 mil vias.  You can find it here: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spma056

    Good luck!

    Regards,

    Dave

  • Hello Dave,

Staff/I & surely poster offer thanks.

It is always "delightful" that this vendor makes SO HARD TO GET - and SO HARD TO FIND - such vital/critical/predictably needed Tech Data.  And yet uber important, "Blogs, Groups & Videos" Parade their (FAR LESS IMPORTANCE) atop the Forum - in Glorious "Red Stripe."   (i.e. beachfront location)

And some way/how - you FOUND the poster's answer!   Bravo - we hope that all the "crumbs which marked your "twisting trail" have not been eaten - so that you may avoid the cliffs & thorns - so readily placed in each searcher's path - so that "Blogs-Groups-Videos" could (maybe) flourish!
