CCS/TMS570LS0432: Problem with the installation

Part Number: TMS570LS0432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I recently purchased a TI launchpad TMS570LS0432.

I tried to follow the install procedure (www.ti.com/.../spnu587.pdf) but I could not find any "Hercules" button to click on. I installed CCS from the wiki instead, selecting Cortex-R4F MCU and Safety MCU out of the list.

After installing the program I had some problems. I could compile (erasing the first code which allowed us to click on the switch to light the LED), but I couldn't read anything from the console.

I also don't seem to have basic libraries (I don't have any gio.h files, for example) which prevent me from uploading new programs

I am also using Windows 10.

From what I gather, the file at www.ti.com/.../spnu587.pdf seems outdated since the instructions could not be followed, and it only mention windows 7 and XP, while windows 8 and 10 have been available for quite some time now.

What can I do to be able to use a console with the MCU and to have access to the basic libraries?

Thanks in advance!
