Hi,
We recently switched our product design from Stalles MCU (LM3S9B90)) to Tiva MCU (TM4C129EKCPDT). It looks like the Tiva MCU is more susceptible to static damage. We don't use multi-layer PCB design to save cost, and we are aware that this leads to less static protection on MCUs.
With the similar static condition , the Stalles board normally experiences a reset, but the Tiva board is likely to have the MCU damaged.
The static condition is made with the following procedure: 1. rubbing my body with an office chair; 2.immediately touch the edge of the board. The edge of the board is the standard static guard design (an open rim trace with a 1M resistor connecting to the circuit ground).
Is any information I can refer to to improve static protection?
