EK-TM4C1294XL: I need to interface my Launchpad with 7inch LCD screen

Part Number: EK-TM4C1294XL

Hi ,

I need to interface my Launchpad with 7inch LCD screen . Kindly suggest me with link, which LCD I should prefer and is there any sample code available for 7inch display .

I have seen this lcd in website which has  SSD1963 LCD Driver

Link:

Is it possible to interface with TM4C1294 LaunchPad??

  • I have not worked with 7" LCD displays, so I have no particular recommendation. The display you mentioned can be controlled by SPI or 16-bit digital interface. Either can be supported by the EK-TM4C129XL. However, the EK-TM4C129XL does not have the 40 pin Arduino header pin. You would have to create the hardware connections between the EK-TM4C129XL and your display.
  • Actually, I think that the display CAN NOT be controlled by SPI. The web page says that the incorporated SDCard has an SPI interface, but the display itself seems to be all about 16 GPIO's...
Further, poster needs to make sure that it accepts (and sends) 3.3V logic, otherwise a level shifter will also be required.
I don't have experience with 7" displays either (as if size is a standard...), but I am guessing that other displays with more convenient serial controlling are available out there...

  • Bruno,
Thank you for catching my mistake. At times I feel I am on a high wire. I appreciate you holding the net when I fall.

At times I feel I am on a high wire.

Yet - it must be noted - the (height) of that wire - above circus floor - was, "Vendor Conceived, Considered & Strung..Net-Less!"     (clearly NOT by you - nor those other vendor aids - landing here)

Some here "just knew" that opening the forum to "ALL outside device interfaces" would be "expected to" - on multiple occasions - over-challenge.    The "over encouragement" to "Adapt the MCU to all comers" was mistaken - in my opinion.

A better alternative (imho) would be the further detailing of each MCU's, "outside world" Interfacing Category.    (primarily those serial in nature)

Richer examples - covering the multiple and "most expected" Use Cases under each interface category - have been sacrificed at the altar of, "Every Device under the sun is (hereby) welcomed!"     That's (clearly) unfair to you (& vendor others) and causes "too many" here to "duck their responsibility to properly investigate their "outside device's" real requirements."    (i.e. Do their own homework!    Note that our o.p. directed, "suggest me with link" to a, "Non-Vendor" device!    How CAN that (ever) be right?)    And...your firm has invited such (improper) requests - has it not?

These ARM MCUs are complex enough - forcing vendor experts FAR from their Tech sweet-spot - thus proves (very) hard to justify...    (and - such "willingness to accept ALL devices" is NOT universal (nor practiced at similar MCU forums...))    (perhaps for GOOD reason...)

  • cb1,

As much as I look for something of yours to disagree, it is one of a challenging and disappointing quest. Fantastic post this one saving Bob Crosby from his fall!

Richer examples and everything you wrote on the sentence: EXACTLY what I think is missing from all of this "crazy world of TM4C - and others - development".

As I recently mentioned (it was PI day), I intend to eventually create my own such notes and have them available to the public. Narcisevely enough, I used for such a "nice" domain that was parked for a while: www.brunosaraiva.com - I don't even know if it is already accessible to outsiders.

What's there so far? A welcome page and some unformatted thoughts on CCS configuration - but the idea is to get a feel for the "most common requests on the forum" and write something about it there.

Why do that? Maybe my two cents of contribution, for I myself need to organize the company's learnings. And such brings development. Win Win.

Right now I barely have time to properly hug my kids - or to deliver the current overdue product (remember a recent talk on Bluetooth?) - but maybe it will become reality.

The pages can be opened for editing to anyone who wants to help - if such is the case, let me know.

    Regards

    Bruno
