TM4C123FH6PM: Transformer for the Ethernet PHY

Part Number: TM4C123FH6PM

Hello,

We want to use cheaper transformet - HX1341NL with TiVa's Ethernet PHY(datasheet in attachment)
Will it work?
In the TiVa's datasheet recommended transformer is HX1188.

  • HX1341NL is a Chinese made alternative. It should work - but it is a good idea to ask the Guangdong manufacturer to confirm the specs against the reference you have from the datasheet.
However, there is no answer here that will guarantee that you will receive all your batch with the quality you need - either on the first order or on the following batches. Who's facing the risk?
Being such a high demanded component, and considering the price of the "original", I guess it is worth giving it a try.

(SORRY, I had not seen the datasheet you attached - there is actually an original Pulse part with your denomination! I had only came across Chinese alternatives with that code. Might ignore my answer - or try a Chinese part on your project if the quantities are large and you really need to save!)

As far as the specs show, both meet IEEE 802.3, and the one you say is cheaper actually seems to be "better on the signal". It should work.

  • Hi Ilya,
I can't really comment whether or not the HX1341NL will work or not since we have not tried it ourselves to have any data. If its spec says it is meeting the requirement then I guess it might be ok. What will be the price difference, I'm interested to know.

Please also go through the system guideline in this app note when designing your board. www.ti.com/.../spma059.pdf
  • Hello Charles,
    HX1341NL is 40% cheaper than HX1188.
