LM3S9B96: Problem flashing

Hi,

We are using the LM3S9B96 (revision C3) on a board and for the latest batch we are unable to program the flash of the MCU. The programming equipment does not recognize the MCU because the values of the DID1 and DC0 registers are incorrect (0xFFFF FFFF).

I found a post in the Stellaris forum which appears to refer to the same issue https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/stellaris_arm/f/471/t/191573 . One answer to this post refers to an errata spmz536k which appears to be unavailable. Are these MCU:s usable (provided we can get the programming software to ignore DID1/DC0 values) or are there other known issues with them?

The errata for the LM3S9B96 part is www.ti.com/.../spmz026u.pdf

If the DID1 register or the DC0 registers are showing up as 0xFFFF.FFFF then in most likelihood the device is unusable.

I don't find any reference to this behavior in the spmz026u errata. I got the impression from Rebecca's answer in the linked thread that this has been found on "some C3 devices" (albeit on LM3S9B92). Can you find the errata (spmz536k) Rebecca mentions?

We expect to redesign our card with a current MCU. In the meantime it would be great if we could get the current batch programmed and usable (the whole batch appears to suffer from the same issue).

Hi again Amit,

The chips were powered up recently. The date code indicates that they were manufactured in June, 2010.

I think the issue is related to the loss of flash content when the device is unpowered for a long time. I will try to find the exact errata for the same.
