TM4C1294KCPDT: How to reconfigure UDP setting after IP address changed?

Dear all

I am working on an application involves Static IP address changes in between, the program use UDP protocol, and it is initialised as:

MyData.udppcb =( struct udp_pcb*) udp_new();
udp_bind(MyData.udppcb, IP_ADDR_ANY, APP_PORT);
udp_recv(MyData.udppcb, Recv_Handler,NULL);

The code works fine until I need to change IP address with following line:

lwIPNetworkConfigChange(NewIpAddr), NewMask), NewGateWay),IPADDR_USE_STATIC);

The IP address change has been done successfully, however, after that if I reinit the UDP configuration, it stuck at udp_bind function, If I skip the init code, it first seems working OK - able to be pinged and receives some packets, but after a while, it seems stuck somewhere. I wonder what I need to do with the UDP configuration after the IP address change.

Hello Ping,

Before changing the IP address you must make sure that all UDP and TCP port bindings are closed.

So, does it use need udp_remove() function or udp_disconnect() to close UDP binding?

When finish IP address change, I suppose it need to call UDP_new(), and udp_bind() again?

Hello Ping,

udp_remove is the function to deallocate the structure for the PCB. Yes, when the IP address change is complete then you should start a new UDP connection.

Hi, Amit

Thanks for reply, I have done as suggested, it works fine initially, but after a few rounds of change, software stuck to FAULT condition, there is a UDP based protocol running after each IP change, I suspect there is something else need cleaning in between, any suggestions? Does the physical EMAC need reset?

No, the EMAC controller does not need to be reset. Please check this with lwIP support on their mailing list.
