Dear Support Community

We are developing a safety software on the TMS570 following the IEC61508 standard on SIL3 level. As the HALCoGen-CSP is only compatible with CCSV5 and older, my questions are:

-Is there a compliance certificate for IEC61508 / SIL3 for the latest Code Composer Studio V7.1?

-What is the reason the CSP is not coming with the latest CCS and HALCoGen?

-How can we get the certificate and what does it cost?

    Hello Stefan,

    I believe there may be some confusion. The version of CCS is not relevant as it is only an IDE and does not directly influence the generation of the object files. What is relevant is the version of the compiler which is a plugin to CCS. Any CCS install can support multiple versions of the compiler dependent on the project. The CSP is CCS and Halcogen version agnostic as far as I am aware. i.e., even if the demo that is available online states to use a prior version, the new version should still work with it. If you discover specific incompatibilities, please let us know so we can address them.

    In regard to compiler certifications/certificates. TI does not offer a certified compiler since we have chosen a different path to be more flexible. As you are aware, when a specific element (device or SW tool) is certified, the certificate only applies to the version that is released. If there are updates or changes needed, the element would have to be re-certified and a new certificate issued. In order to avoid this and allow a greater degree of freedom for both our compiler team and to our customers, TI has chosen to offer a Compiler Qualification Kit (CQK) that allows our customers to execute a series of tests on the compiler to verify its proper operation and generate the appropriate evidence to include in the customer's certification safety case.
