RM44L520: Driver example for Half-Duplex SPI?

Part Number: RM44L520
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hi, are there any code examples for how to operate the Hercules SPI peripherals in half-duplex mode?

Also:

In the TRM, (document spnu608, chapter 25.2.17), there is a section on Half Duplex Mode.
There is a sentence I do not understand:

****
But this will require that both SOMI and SIMO lines are bonded out in a chip to be able to support
both TX-only or RX-only features.
****

What does it mean by "bonded out"? Does it mean that both pins still has to be physically connected to something on the outside of the MCU? If so, what?

  • Hello Audun,

I am not aware of any examples that exist and it appears as though the half duplex option is not included in halcogen.

When we discuss a feature being "bonded out" it means that the feature is brought to a pin (i.e., there is a bond wire between the pad on the silicon die to the leadframe which is essentially the pin.)  Note that this is qualified as if it is desired that BOTH TX-only and RX-Only features are supported.
