TMS570LC4357: Halcogen settings for memory protection unit

Hi,

I am using the TMS570LC4357 for accessing an external asynchronous memory(SRAM) through EMIF using chip select #3. so , the address range is 0x6400_0000 to 0x67FF_FFFF.

Do i need to enable the memory protection unit? If yes, please share the settings on the halcogen.

Hello Vivek,

You don't have to use the MPU for the SRAM.

Hi Wang,

As per my understanding, the MPU is used to ensure that contents of the unintended memory locations not to be changed by any means.

Do you say it depends on the application? Please correct if i am wrong..

Can you please elaborate when to/not to use the MPU?
