TMS570LS2124: No Data Abort Error when reading from erased Flash bank 7 (FEE)?

Part Number: TMS570LS2124

Hi,

One of my customers is using Flash bank 7 sector 2 for parameter storage.  And they'd like to get a data abort error in case someone is reading from an erased flash location.  But for bank 7 no data abort error is generated.  When trying the same with and other bank, it's working fine.

EE_ALL1_OK is set to 0 and EE_EDACEN to a value other than 0101. With this I would expect to get the data abort error when accessing an erased flash location in bank 7.

Or is this not supported for bank 7, as the flash accesses are routed differently for this bank?

Thanks,
  Robert

  • Hello  Robert,

The TRM says "The accesses to the program memory – flash bank 0 and flash bank 1, are protected by SECDED logic implemented inside the ARM Cortex-R4F CPU. Accesses to the EEPROM emulation flash bank (bank 7) are protected by dedicated SECDED logic inside the digital interface to the flash banks.".  Accesses to EREPROM bank are also protected (ESM1.35/36).

I will ask our flash expert to take a look. Sorry for late response.

    Regards,

    QJ
