hopefully a quick question regarding the Hercules range of Safety Micro controllers.
We are in the process of designing a Safety Controller for an Elevator System adhering to IEC 61508 standard.
As far as we are aware we would need 2 separate devices (for redundancy) to monitor safety related inputs, e.g for each Hardware input there should be a connection to a pin on each micro controller. Then both micro controllers can monitor the same Hardware input for Dual Redundancy.
Since the Hercules has Dual processor Core redundancy we believe we can just use one Micro-controller?
My question is therefore do we use 2 processor pins to monitor one Hardware input, or can we just use 1 pin.
