CCS: Question about CC1101 functioning

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am coding for the tivaC123GH6PM to control the CC1101 RF module. I don't know for sure if, for example, the CC1101 is in IDLE state and there is a wireless signal come in, do I have to write a strobe command in my code to change the CC1101 module to RX state, or the module will recognize itself and change to RX state. And after that will it return to IDLE state by itself of need a strobe command ?

Thank you very much for your help !

  • That's an older RF module - is it not? Believe my firm has several - and a development kit (which has sat for years - unused...)
Now - as an ex-US Army Communication Officer - my belief is that most such RF modules "default into RX mode!" That makes sense - does it not - as you'd want to minimize the likelihood of "missing" an incoming transmission.

Would not that level of detail appear w/in the module's data-sheet and/or operating manual? (should the device be "so old" as to, "No longer be published/otherwise available" - I should be able to find our kit - and check for you.)

My experience is that such RF modules are (always) in RX mode (unless power saving is prime) and "switch to TX mode upon signal arriving @ module's TX and/or a dedicated pin - which "switches device from RX to TX."
