hello there,

are there any available reference designs for the TIVA series working with 16/24 bit interface LCDs?  I'm looking for connection, clock/HSYNC/VSYNC gereration, drivers.

  • Could not stand to see your post simply "sit" longer. (now nearing 40 hours!)

    In the specific answer to your request: "NO" - no such "reference design" is available for interfacing 16/24 bit LCDs from vendor's "4C123 MCU."     The MCU neither accommodates the speed nor substantial "pin inventory" requirements - to achieve your objective.

    While not "rising" to the excellence required for "reference design" - this vendor does offer a, "Plug-In Eval board" (for some reason called "booster") which includes a QVGA, TFT display.     And - "features an SPI interface" - thus (faster than a speeding bullet [provided that bullet lacks propulsive force].)   

    Firm/I have long used your "4C123 device" - yet it proves (vastly) over-challenged by the task you describe. That MCU has a "big brother" (4C129) which while being "more capable" may still prove "marginal" at your task.

    You may consider employing a display with an "in-built, Display Controller" - or the imposition of a Display Controller between your MCU and your Display. (the requirement to continually "adequately refresh the display" outstrips the capability - most always - of MCUs w/out "special Display accommodations.")

    Certain ARM MCUs have such advanced Display Accommodating features - your expanded search (or PM to me) will identify...

    I've been working with a module that's I2C, but a little small for what I need to do.

    I'll look into the Display Accommodating features you mentioned.

  • If your (bit small) display - via I2C - is to drive 24 bit color - "Do wake me when the first pixel row arrives." (you just may have authored the first "Sleep Aid" powered via 3V3 - and all "E-Books" may shudder at the competition...)

    Modern, higher speed ARM devices have implemented multiple "Display Accommodating" features - may warrant your (difficult) search or (eased) PM for a link...
